Description
Corum must thank their lucky star for having created the Bubble watch. The Bubble was a fun and bold concept at the time, very over the top in terms of size. By today's standards, it's not even overly large, but Bubbles are still fun... lots of fun. The Bubble model line encompasses various special editions, precious and non-precious metal cases, chronos and non-chronos, quartz and automatic movements... very much a Bubble for every wrist. This is a special Bubble, with 18k yellow gold pave diamond case, diamond dial and automatic movement.
Movement is an ETA Caliber 2892 which is a high quality, automatic winding caliber available in several grades. Corum uses the superior grade 2892 movement, which features excellent finishing and mechanical improvements, and then adds a custom Corum rotor. In the recent book "The Watch" by Gene Stone, the ETA 2892 is ranked as the third best time-only caliber in production... well ahead of much, much more prestigious calibers in terms of quality.
Dial is black with applied gold "12", "3", "6" and "9" and diamond hour markers for the other 8 positions.
The case is the star of this watch, naturally. The massive 18k yellow gold case has dimensions of 45mm diameter by 19mm thick thanks to a hugely domed sapphire bubble crystal. The caseback also features a sapphire crystal. The entire top of the case and lugs is pave diamonds, as is the crown. In fact, there are 291 diamonds set into the case. All diamonds are factory set. Case is water resistant to 200 meters!
Watch is brand new and complete with box and documents, including a certificate concerning the stones. Retail price is $41,000. This watch is a whole lot of fun and very high quality... and a SCREAMING deal!
