Description
Michel Parmigiani is a legend in his own time, having worked as a restorer of very complicated and historic clocks around Europe before starting his own watch brand. What I like about Parmigiani Fleurier watches is Michel's use of formed cases. In fact, the Kalpa models feature a prorprietary case form, which is partly tonneau, partly rectangular with oversized, flared lugs.
Case is as described above, cast from platinum, and with generous dimensions of 53mm in length by 37.2mm width by 11mm thick. Crystal is sapphire. Case is water resistant to 30 meters. The caseback features two little sapphire portholes to permit viewing of the repeater hammers.
Dial is champagne colored, with fine guilloche and applied numerals and hour markers. The subsidiary seconds dial is silver and also features guilloche. The hands are a rare Delta style, and are skeletonized for dial legibility.
Movement is Parmigiani PF350.01 hand winding caliber with power reserve of 45 hours and 33 jewels. Movement is hand finished and hand assembled.
Strap is a Hermes alligator strap with Parmigiani deployant clasp. Note that the Hermes strap is the factory strap.
Retail on this watch is $313,500. Watch is new with box and papers.
