Description
Just Wow. That was my first reaction to seeing this new model Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph reference 5971 in the metal. It's just a marvel of an object... that it tells the time and date information is just a bonus. The platinum case is set with a baguette flawless diamonds bezel, which flatters the black diamond dial perfectly. Words, even pictures, fail to illustrate the utter beauty of this watch.
In addition to telling ordinary 12 hour time (hours, minutes and seconds), the 5971 also features a perpetual calendar with displays for day, date, month, leap year and moonphase. A chronograph is also incorporated, which can record events with up to a 30 minute duration. All of these complications are displayed cleanly, harmoniously and legibly on the black dial which handsomely features diamond hour markers.
The massive solid platinum case measures 40mm in diameter. Oval shaped pump style chronograph pushers. Case is water resistant to 25 meters.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber CH 27-70 Q, with 24 jewels; 353 individual parts; 60 hour power reserve; beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour and stamped with the ultra-prestigious Geneva Seal.
