Description
Here is one of the nicest looking calendar watches on the market, with an unusual square 18k gold case, in as new condition for more than 40% off the retail price of $25,900. Collectors know that Vacheron Constantin is one of the triumvirate of most esteemed brands, and examing watches like this Toledo calendar shows why.
Case is solid 18k yellow gold with a square case shape that gives a sharp nod to vintage watch cases from the 1950s. Case dimensions are 34mm long (42mm with lugs included) by 34mm wide by 13.2mm thick. Domed and flush fitting sapphire crystal and solid, screw-down caseback.
Movement is the automatic winding Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1125 with 36 jewels, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and very finely hand finished.
Dial is really nicely done, with applied arabic numerals and pyramid hour markers and very slender needle style hands. There are three textures on the dial: brushed on the outermost area with the arabic numerals, then very light concentric guilloche in the date chapter, and then a granular pattern guilloche in the circular central area. Nice! The moonphase is very high quality and a nice touch is that the dial itself has stars printed in the midnight blue area around the bottom of the moonphase display where the cut-out is. Seconds are displayed by a hand that goes around the moonphase subdial. The days and months are displayed in the apertures below the "Vacheron Constantin Geneve" text, and the Maltese Cross is applied to the dial above the text. Finally, the date is displayed by the blue arrow-tipped hand and the date chapter.
Strap is a very high quality medium brown hand sewn Vacheron crocodile with 18k Maltese Cross Vacheron clasp.
