Description
Ikepod was one of the watch brands that originally attracted me to watches... so big, so quirky... almost the whole model lineup was chronographs... and the cases are monocoque construction, which is unique to Ikepod. I was hooked! At one point, I owned all of their models, and I remember those days fondly. Ikepod went out of business back in 2003/2004, but started back up with new management and ownership in 2007. The original models will never be made again.
This watch is from the original Ikepod and is from the Hemipode collection. This HD 2 model features an oversized, two aperture date display along with chronograph subcounters for 30 minutes and 12 hours.
Case is brushed stainless steel, again with the proprietary monocoque construction. Dimensions are 44mm diameter by 16mm thick. Generously domed sapphire crystal and small porthole style display crystal on caseback which permits a view of the balance. Water resistant to 50 meters.
Movement is the automatic winding Dubois Depraz 4500, which is built from the highly rated ETA Caliber 2892. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified chronometer.
Dial is the more unusual black color with contrasting silver subdials and orange seconds hand. The chronograph pushers are orange on top to complement the chrono seconds hand.
Strap is synthetic rubber and is remarkably supple... and it is scented vanilla!
Watch is new old stock with box and blank warranty card.
