Description
We are very excited to offer this fine and rare vintage two-register Vacheron Constantin Chronograph, ref. 4178, in 18 K yellow gold. This particular model is one of the most sought after vintage chronographs and dates to circa 1942.
A classic timepiece in all regards, the ref. 4178 features a mint original sateen white dial, with gold dot indexes and applied arabic numerals at the 12 & 6’o clock position, which are surrounded by an outer tachymeter and mileage graduation scale.
The solid 18 k yellow gold, stepped three-piece case measures a large 36mm in diameter, and features the very destinctive and desirable lapidated tear drop lugs. and square chronograph pushers.
The manual 19 jewel rhodium plated, fausses cotes decorated movement is the high grade caliber 434, which has been adjusted to temperature.
Incidentally, the ref. 4178 also served as a historic point of reference for the more recent "Les Historiques" collection by Vacheron Constantin, and the ref. 47101, Cal 1140.
