Description
This watch is smokin'! Rose gold with a dark silver dial and applied rose gold numerals... in a huge case with massive bezel and lugs. This watch is one of Patek's homeruns for me.
Let's start with the solid 18k case, which measures 42mm diameter by 13mm thick. Again, the bezel is very broad and is set off by the large winding crown, rectangular chrono pushers and the long, thick lugs. Magnificent case! Rose gold deployant clasp mounted on the black alligator strap.
The dial is silver, but a very dark silver... smoky... very handsome. Applied rose gold numerals and hands. The outermost chapter on the dial is a simple seconds register for the chronograph seconds hand, while the inner chapter is a tachymetric scale.
Movement is the manual winding PP Caliber 27, clearly visible through the sapphire display back, proudly displaying its Geneva Seal. 28 jewels in this beauty, which beats at a leisurely 18,000 BPH... which helps to extend the power reserve to approximately 56 hours.
Let me interject my feelings here: this is a watch that you could put on and never take off, except while doing sports/water activities. It is absolutely beautiful!
Watch is new with box and papers. The reference 5070 was formally discontinued by Patek in 2007 and, not surprisingly, values are rapidly increasing.
