Description
While the Rolex reference 6532 sometimes appears in the collector’s market, the watches ALWAYS have a silverfish white color dial. Finding this watch with the original, untouched black dial was one of collecting’s small miracle moments.
We kind of saw it and said, what is this? Can’t be a 6532 with the black dial… but it was and with the “DEEPSEA” printed subtly underneath the “OYSTER PERPETUAL”. Again, this is a completely original, untouched black gilt dial.
Serial number of this watch is 216XXX which dates it to 1956. Caseback is engraved 6532 and with IV.56 (fourth quarter 1956).
Original stainless steel case is 33mm in diameter by 12mm thick and has a polished finish. The 6532 is popularly thought to share a case with the early Explorers. However, this is not the case (pun intended!). Instead, the 6532 case has straight case sides and thin lugs, which distinguishes it from an Explorer. It is also 1mm in diameter smaller than an Explorer.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1030 with 25 jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. Movement is clean and operating well. Screw down crown is also operating as it should.
Original dial is black with applied golden hour markers, gilt printing and original alpha style hands.
Bracelet is a Rolex stretch style Oyster. Clasp has ‘7-66’ date code.
Overall condition of this watch is mint and completely original.
