Description
This vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is unique, in that the original owner ordered it with the Bark finish (which otherwise was reserved for use on Datejust and Day Date watches).
In over twenty years of selling Rolex watches, it is the first time that we see a Daytona with bark finish. This finish is also called “Bahamian Bark”. The collector who acquires this watch will have a piece unique.
Original stainless steel case measures 38mm diameter by 14mm thick and of course has the unique bark finish. Crystal is domed acrylic. Screw down crown and round pump style chronograph pushers are operating perfectly.
Case is in mint original condition. Jubilee bracelet is also bark finished and is somewhat stretched and will fit up to a 6.5 inch wrist. Serial number 2874XXX dates production to 1970.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to 3 positions. Movement is immaculate and running great.
Original black dial features contrasting silver subdials with constant seconds and chronograph 30 minute and 12 hour totalizers. Hands are original. Dial is in perfect condition.
