Description
A vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is such a great looking watch. People ask us all the time, “Do you think these will still be popular in 5 years” (or 10 years, whatever).

The answer is “YES”. The question can only be asked by someone who has never seen a vintage Daytona in the metal. There is no doubt in my mind that this is THE iconic chronograph.

This particular vintage Cosmograph Daytona is in perfect, 100% original condition, and has its box and papers (a rarity). It is crisp and pleasing in every way.

Original stainless steel case is in perfect condition and maintains its factory sharp case edges. Dimensions of 37mm diameter by 14mm thick. Screw down crown and pump style round chronograph pushers. Acrylic crystal. Original bezel is in perfect condition and features a ‘50’ to ‘200” Units Per Hour” scale.
Serial number 8602003 dates production to 1985.

Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. This is a column wheel construction chronograph caliber, which is acknowledged as the superior design from a mechanical and aesthetic perspective. The movement is in perfect running condition and is pristine.

Original dial is black with contrasting white subdials and red ‘Daytona’. The subdials have guilloche and display chronograph elapsed time up to 30 minutes at 3 o’clock, chronograph elapsed time up to 12 hours at 6 o’clock, and constant seconds at 9 o’clock.

Again, this watch is entirely original – exactly as it left the Rolex factory in 1985 – and has its original box and papers, including a Rolex service document from a late 2003 service.
