Description
If you have read Orwell’s Animal Farm, then you know the expression that “some are more equal than others”. The same can be said of some vintage wristwatches.
This platinum Patek Philippe reference 2552 with original platinum case and original diamond dial is simply sublime. The luster of the case and the dial are without an equal. This watch is museum quality in every way.
This watch was manufactured in 1955 and retailed on November 30, 1955. The accompanying Extract from the Archives identifies the dial as having diamond indexes and the dial remains original and untouched to this day.
In fact, I would venture to say that the dial is even more beautiful today than at any other time in the watch’s life, because it has attained an even mellow silver hue. The hands are also original to this watch. Dial also has subsidiary seconds.
Original case is solid platinum with 36mm diameter and 11mm thickness. Domed acrylic crystal and solid platinum screw back. Original crown features the back to back ‘P’.
Original movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 12-600 AT stamped with the Geneva Seal and featuring self-compensating Breguet balance spring, swan neck regulator and 18k winding rotor.
Watch is in 100% original unpolished condition and is operating very well. Watch will be delivered with its Extract from the Archive and Patek box, on a Patek strap and with an 18k white gold vintage Patek buckle.
On a personal note, this is one of the most alluring and beautiful vintage watches that I have laid eyes on. This will be a prized possession for whoever owns it, whether that person be a Patek Philippe collector or not.
