Description
Accept no substitutes! The so called "Maxi Dial" SeaDweller reference 1665 was only made in 1980 and has serial numbers in the 654XXXX range. This particular example is awesome and perfect in every way. The original (untouched and PERFECT) Maxi Dial is a beautiful sight to behold. The patina is uniform between the hour markers and hands and the bezel pearl.
Interestingly, 1980 was the final year of 1665 production and only a few 1665s left the factory that year. Production of the next generation of SeaDweller, the 16660 commenced in 1978, and what 1665s were produced between 1978-1980 were very few in number. As if to make the final 1665s that much more special, the 1980 watches had the Maxi dials. These oddities are what make collecting vintage Rolex watches so much fun.
Original case is mint plus with dimensions of 40mm diameter by 15.5mm thick. Crystal is domed acrylic. Original Trip-Lock crown is operating smoothly. Lugs are fat and sharp. Even the bezel insert is original and perfect.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1575 with date and C.O.S.C. Chronometer Certification. Movement is running strong and well.
Bracelet is Oyster reference 93150 with 585 end links. Bracelet has 11 links and is in overall mint condition with no stretch.
