Description
This is one of the nicest vintage Rolex Day Dates we have ever offered. The big story is that the watch is 18k rose gold (or pink gold as some prefer to call it) and in fantastic condition. Plus, the dial and hands are very unusual and very attractive. This will grace the wrist of a lady or man with equal aplomb.
Original case is solid 18k rose gold with dimensions of 35.5mm diameter by 12.4mm thick. Crystal is acrylic and very clean. Screw down 18k crown operates perfectly and smoothly. The fluted bezel, along with the rest of the case, is very clean and crisp. By now, 40+ years later, most reference 1803 cases have been polished repeatedly. Not so this case, which is clean and with full metal.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1555 with 26 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Movement is clean and running well. The day and date switch over crisply at midnight.
The original, untouched dial on this watch is a special treat. First of all, its rose color with brush finish and pie-pan edge is truly gorgeous. The hour markers and hands are early versions and rare.
Bracelet is 18k rose gold Rolex President with very light stretch and vintage clasp and will fit up to a 7.5” wrist.
This vintage Rolex Day Date “President” has a serial number of 962XXX and dates to 1963 and will be delivered with Rolex box and booklets.
