Description
We get Roger Dubuis watches in a couple of times each year, and I am always struck by how rich of a watch that Roger Dubuis makes. The cases and dials show so much flare and imagination, and besides Patek Philippe, Roger Dubuis is the only Swiss manufacture whose entire production of calibers features the Geneva Seal.
The fit and finish of these watches is outstanding. To top it all off, the firm produces only 28 pieces of each style to ensure limited production. They literally do it all right.
This case is called “Too Much” and is 18k white gold. It is a rectangular case, with three lugs on the top and bottom of the case, which imparts an exotic look. Case dimensions are 43mm wide by 30mm long by 11.3mm thick. These dimensions do not include the lugs or crown. Speaking of the crown, it has a button inset that advances the GMT hand in one hour increments. Sapphire crystals front and display back. Case is anatomically curved for comfort.
Dial is mother of pearl with two square sub registers. Local time is shown in combination of the central minutes hand and the left square register that shows hours. This time display/dial format is known as a “regulator” or “regulateur” dial. The time (hours) in a second time zone is shown in the right square sub register. To help the wearer quickly interpret which sub register they are reading, the local time uses roman numerals while the GMT or second time zone uses arabic numerals. The watch hands are blued. This dial is a work of art.
Movement is the manually winding Roger Dubuis Caliber RD9847 with 19 jewels and adjusted to five positions. The caliber is stamped with the ultra prestigious Geneva Seal.
Strap is black, hand sewn Roger Dubuis alligator with 18k white gold Roger Dubuis deployant clasp.
