Description
This vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 96 in stainless steel with Breguet numbers and original radium hands and dots, is a genuine treasure. The dial is original and in mint condition, as is the rest of the watch. I contend that this watch has no peer in the world today.
Original stainless steel case measures 31mm diameter by 10.1mm thick. Domed acrylic crystal. The condition of the case is mint. The bezel and case back are polished while the middle case body is brush finished. The lugs are long and of uniform thickness.
Original movement is the manual winding Caliber 12''' 120 with 18 jewels, swan neck regulator, adjusted to 5 positions, temperature and isochronism. Movement is stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Original dial is spectacular and untouched. Silvered with vertical brush finish, and featuring applied Breguet style numbers, a subsidiary seconds dial with guilloche and blued seconds hand, the big story with this dial is the original radium dots and original blued hands with inlaid radium. All of the original radium dots are present and intact.
Watch is on black leather strap with vintage steel Patek Philippe buckle.
This watch will be accompanied by the Extract from the Archives, which shows a production date of 1943 and a retail sales date of June 19, 1944. The Extract attests to the Breguet numerals and radium dots on the dial.
