Description
The big story is that this Rolex Day Date “President” is 18k rose gold (or pink gold as some prefer to call it) and in fantastic condition. For every 40 or 50 yellow gold vintage Day Dates, there is only one rose gold watch… and man oh man, are they good looking watches.
Original case is solid 18k rose gold with dimensions of 35.5mm diameter by 12.4mm thick. Crystal is acrylic and clean. Screw down 18k crown operates perfectly and smoothly. The fluted bezel, along with the rest of the case, is clean and crisp with full even lugs. By now, 40+ years later, most reference 1803 cases have been polished repeatedly. Not so this case, which is mint to mint plus.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1556 with 26 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Movement is clean and running well. The day and date switch over crisply at midnight.
Original dial is rose color with radial brushing, with applied hour markers and original rose gold hands. Dial is in very good condition with light spotting. This is a “pie pan” dial, where the edge slants downward from the main dial surface. This adds a nice depth to the dial, which is missing in modern Day Dates.
Bracelet is 18k rose gold Rolex President with light to medium stretch and vintage clasp and will fit up to a 8.5” wrist.
This vintage Rolex Day Date “President” has a serial number of 3276XXX and dates to 1971/72 and is guaranteed 100% authentic and original.
