Play that Funky Music White Boy… Remember that 1970’s iconic song? When I think of the 1970s, I think of music. The BeeGees, the great funk bands, KC and the Sunshine Band, Saturday Night Fever… Being a watch person, when I think of the 1970s, I think of watches just like this reference 3582 Patek Philippe Gondolo.
The integral bracelet, the mesh bracelet, the rectangular case with softened corners and the esoteric design, with oval dial surrounded by blue enamel. Ah, they never made them this cool since the 1970s.
This particular watch features the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 23-300 PM with 18 jewels, Gyromax balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, adjusted to 5 positions, heat, cold and isochronism and stamped with the ultra prestigious Geneva Seal.
Take that quartz movements! Even in the horologically dark period of the 1970s, when quartz watches reigned supreme, Patek didn’t forsake their roots as the last word in Swiss watchmaking… the keeper of the Kingdom… they kept making mechanical watches even if that art form was rapidly becoming archaic.
The watch is interesting in that it has a traditional dial, oval shaped, which is a beautiful shade of blue with applied hollowed out hour markers and hands, which is set inside a polished oval ring, which is surrounded by blue enamel.
The dial is signed Patek Philippe and Arte Suizo, which is a famous retailer in Colombia.
The 18k white gold case top and all dial elements are mirror polished, while the case sides are brushed. The case back is polished, except for the center area of the screw back, which is brush finished. For sure, the finish on this watch is original and has never been altered. The Patek signed (with the Calatrava Cross) winding crown is original.
Case dimensions are 35mm long by 30mm wide by 6.7mm thick. Crystal is sapphire.
The bracelet is soild 18k white gold, mesh style, and is original to the watch and of Patek Philippe design and manufacture. The clasp is also signed with the Calatrava Cross. The bracelet has never been cut and will fit up to a 7.5 inch wrist.
Condition of the watch is original and never polished. The case is in mint condition and the dial is in excellent condition. The movement is winding smoothly and the watch is running strong.
