Description
I am consistently blown away by Glashutte Original watches. The quality is on par with the highest echelon of Swiss manufactures, and the designs are superior in my opinion. Glashutte Original manufactures pretty much every part of their watches except for the crystal and strap. Based in Glashutte in the former East Germany, the company still utilizes the famous Glashutte ¾ plate in the movements, which is visible through the display back crystal. You could get lost, staring at the movement with a loupe. Feast your eyes on the movement picture below. The rotor features a back to back GG and 21k segment. The balance bridge is hand engraved, meaning that every movement is an individual work of art. From the sunken chatons to the hand blued screws… this movement is technically and aesthetically a masterpiece.
The case is 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 39.3mm diameter by 12.6mm thick. Crystals are sapphire. The case finish is amazing. There is a thin band of polished gold on the very top of the bezel, which slopes down into a broad section that is mirror polished gold. The top of the lugs is also mirror polished. The side of the lugs and case sides are brushed. The rear case bezel is polished. The rear bezel is held down by 5 sunken screws.
The dial is a solid pane of gold, which is silvered, and has an off center hours and minutes dial. The seconds dial intersects the minutes and hours dial. There is Glashutte Original’s patented outsized date display at 5 o’clock and the power reserve indicator at 2 o’clock.
My Gosh, the movement is GORGEOUS. The Caliber 90-03 has 61 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has an off center mini rotor, double swan neck fine adjustment and is completely hand assembled, hand finished and hand decorated.
Watch is in new, 100% condition with box and papers. Strap is black Glashutte Original alligator with 18k gold Glashutte Original deployant clasp.
US Retail price is $18,500.
