ROLEX 6263 DAYTONA CHRONOGRAPH STEEL

The 1960s and 1970s Daytonas are so classic and great looking. Admittedly, they cost a lot more than Swatch watches, but like Swatch watches it would be nice to own a Daytona of every reference number, case metal and dial color. But, if you can only own one, then this watch right here would be a great daily wear vintage Daytona.

Original stainless steel case measures 38mm in diameter by 14mm thick. The case edges are very crisp and the entire case is pristine. Lugs are full metal and symmetrical. Screw down pump chronograph pushers and screw down crown operating perfectly. Acrylic crystal is in perfect condition. Original bezel has “Units per Hour” scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’ and is very clean aside from a couple of scuffs around 9 o’clock on the insert a few very insignificant marks on the edge of the bezel itself. Overall, the case is mint and clean.
Serial number 4128XXX dates production to 1975.

Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. This is a column wheel chronograph construction. Movement is pristine and operating perfectly. Chronograph resets to zero crisply and accurately.

Original dial is black with applied hour markers, silver contrasting subdials, and with “DAYTONA” printed in red. Hands are original and the seconds hand shows some oxidation. The dial is clean and 100% original and mint.

Bracelet is a Rolex Oyster reference 78350 with 12 links.
