Description
Adding a red Submariner 1680 to any vintage Rolex collection is a must. The vast majority of red 1680s do not have their original box and papers… but this one does… and punch papers, no less along with the original “Your Rolex Oyster” booklet, which also has a page with the serial number punched, that records the authorized dealer who first sold the watch back on February 13, 1973.
The original box is also included. It’s amazing what a time capsule these complete watches are, isn’t it?
Original stainless steel case is in mint+ condition with original sharp and beveled edges. The screw down crown operates as it should. The original bezel insert is a bit faded – to outstanding aesthetic effect – and the original bezel turns as it should. The crystal is acrylic.
Serial number 2867XXX dates production to 1970.
Original black dial is in perfect, untouched condition and the markers have a nice, even patina. The hands are original. Date in the cyclops window at 3 o’clock. The word “SUBMARINER” is written in red.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels is in immaculate condition and running well. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Bracelet is Rolex Oyster Caliber 93150 with flip-lock clasp and 12 links and in mint+ condition.
This red 1680 Submariner will be delivered with its original box and papers (with both the Certificate and the Guarantee punched).
