Description
Take a look at those fat lugs, that full metal case, that sweet and juicy meters first Red “Submariner” dial… a must have vintage Submariner if ever there were one! Really, the splash of red makes the whole watch much snazzier and much more collectable.
Original stainless steel case measures 39mm diameter by 13.9mm thick. The “top hat” style acrylic crystal sits high in the watch and gives the reference 1680 Submariner its signature look. The 1680 is my favorite Submariner of all. Original screw down Triplock crown is operating perfectly. This watch case is in mint+ condition.
Serial number 2355XX dates production of this watch to 1969.
Original and untouched black dial has a pleasing patina across the hour markers and is in mint condition. The depth rating is “200m = 660 ft”, which is only seen on early production 1680 Subs and the dials with this depth rating are known as “meters first” dials. Date display at 3 o’clock. The dial is in perfect condition.
Original movement is the automatic winding, C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions. Movement is clean and mint.
Watch is on a red nylon “Nato” style strap. We will also include a black color Nato strap with the watch. |
