Description
This vintage Rolex Cosmograph reference 6239 with serial number 923XXX dates production to 1963, and as such establishes this watch as being one of the first Rolex Daytona watches ever made! This exact configuration of the 6239 was only produced for a few months in 1963 before the bezel was changed. Talk about an important vintage Rolex!

Original stainless steel case measures 36.5mm diameter by 13.2mm thick. Take particular notice of the original first series bezel, with its unique “UNITS PER HOUR” and the scale from ‘60’ to ‘300’ with the unique ‘275’ position in the scale, which is omitted from all other Daytona bezel scales. The case on this watch is mint and the lugs are fat. Screw down crown and round pump style chronograph pushers work perfectly and the chronograph hands reset to their zero positions perfectly. The caseback has ‘6239’ engraved.

Black dial is 100% untouched. Applied hour markers, ‘T SWISS T’, sunken subdials with concentric guilloche and signed “ROLEX COSMOGRAPH”. This dial and original hands are in excellent condition.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 72B with 17 jewels, and features column wheel construction.

Bracelet is Rolex riveted Oyster reference 7205 with ‘60’ end links, with 12 links and is in mint condition with zero stretch.

This very watch is among the first ever Rolex Daytonas produced. It is a very rare and important watch, and is offered here to all collectors.
