Description
Every time I see a watch with dauphine hands, my brain registers a little jolt of pleasure. When the dauphine hands are rose gold, the sensation doubles.
Remember those old York Peppermint Patty commercials, where the people would bite the peppermint patty and say “When I bite into a York Peppermint Patty, I feel like I’m skiing in the Alps…”? Well, when I see a watch with dauphine hands, I feel like buying it (and we usually do).
The case on this beauty is modern and straightforward, with its long lugs, broad bezel and chunky shape. All of the top facing surfaces of the watch are polished, while the case sides are brush finished. The rear surface of the case body is polished as is the edge of the case back. The main flat surface of the case back is brush finished. The case back has “31-5-92” engraved. The fit and finish of this case is extremely high.
The crystal is sapphire. The crown is signed with the Calatrava Cross. Dimensions are 30.5mm diameter, 38.3mm from lug tip to lug tip, and 7.3mm thick.
Dial is silver with a subtle brushed finish, along with applied rose gold hour markers and embossed minutes chapter, subsidiary seconds dial and those scrumptious rose gold dauphine hands.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 215 with 18 jewels, adjusted for heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions, and stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Watch is on vintage black crocodile Patek Philippe strap with older style 18k rose gold Patek Philippe tang buckle.
This watch is from the 1980s, and is in mint condition with original Patek box.
