Description
There is something extra special about a mint condition vintage Rolex watch when it is accompanied by its original Rolex box and papers. In this instance, we acquired the watch directly from its original owner, who wisely kept the original Guarantee booklet, the original green “Submariner” brochure, original “Rolex Auto-Lock Revolving Bezel How it Works” instructions and the original inner and outer boxes. He also kept the watch in outstanding condition, with services in June of 1974 and March of 1985. This 1970 watch is mint, with only light signs of wear.

Original case measures 39.7mm diameter by 14.7mm thick. The crystal is domed acrylic, which gives the reference 5513 Submariners their distinctive and handsome profile. Screw down crown operates perfectly. The original bezel turns easily and the original bezel insert is clean. The case may never have been polished, as it has its original and very sharp edges and bevels. It does show signs of wear, but no major marks.

Serial number 2583XXX dates production to 1970. Inside case back is marked I.70 which shows that it left the factory during the first quarter of 1970.

Original black dial is preserved in perfect condition. The original hands show light spotting on the metal (very light) and the luminous is intact. The patina on the hands and the hour markers matches and is very nice. The original untouched dial is easily mint plus condition.

Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1520 with 17 jewels. The movement is as clean and perfect as the day it was screwed into the watch case in 1970 and running great.

Rolex folded Oyster bracelet with reference number 7836 and 280 end links. Bracelet clasp shows a date code of 1-71 which means this is the original bracelet. The bracelet has 12 links and is in mint condition with light to moderate stretch.

This is a very collectable vintage Submariner, with the complete and original box and papers set. My words do not do this beautiful watch justice…
