Description
This is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore chronograph with AP model number 26176FO. The 44mm diameter case is made from carbon fiber and the legendary octagonal bezel is ceramic. Because of the watch’s black and yellow color combination, this watch has become known as the “Bumble Bee”. It certainly has created quite a buzz (sorry, I couldn’t help it).
Audemars Piguet put a great deal of research into making this case, as it is forged from carbon using a compression technique that results in an extremely light weight case that is very hard. It’s also obviously black in color. The Royal Oak model is characterized by its octagonal bezel, and this watch’s ceramic bezel with the exposed white gold screws is no exception. The crystal is sapphire and the screw down crown and chronograph pushers are coated in a resin to make them more resilient and also more tactile.
Dial is black with large Clous de Paris engraving, yellow Arabic numerals and luminous hands, yellow print on the subdials and a yellow tachometer scale around the dial. There is a date display at 3 o’clock.
Movement is the automatically winding in house AP Caliber 3126/3840 with 59 jewels and beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Like all AP movements, this one is a superlative quality movement.
Strap is black AP water resistant “Horn Back” crocodile with exposed yellow stitching and AP folding deployant clasp.
Watch is new with box and papers.
