Description
I know. I sound like a broken record sometimes. But I’ll say it again: in my opinion, F.P. Journe is the Abraham Louis Breguet of our generation. His Chronometre a Resonance is the most impressive watch in the last 20 years. It’s also in a vastly different price category from this Chronometre Souverain, which still offers all of the Journe look, an in house movement (designed by the master himself) and a platinum case. This watch is a modern classic.
Case is solid platinum, with a 40mm diameter by 8.8mm thick. Slightly domed front sapphire crystal and flat display back crystal. Solid platinum crown with knurled edge and the trademark double opposing dots engraved. This is the larger and more desirable case than the 38mm Journe watch cases.
Dial is silver with printed black arabic numerals, minutes and seconds chapters and power reserve scale. The center part of the dial has guilloche. The subsidiary seconds dial is eccentrically positioned, while the power reserve (or reserve de marche) retrograde indicator is at 3 o’clock. The hands are blued.
Movement is the F.P. Journe designed, in house built Caliber 1304 which is solid 18k gold. The caliber has 22 jewels and is adjusted to 6 positions. Hand finished and hand decorated, this movement is gorgeous to look at. It is engraved “F.P. JOURNE”, “INVENIT ET FECIT”, “CHRONOMETRE SOUVERAIN”.
Watch is on a hand sewn black F.P. Journe crocodile strap with platinum Journe tang clasp.
