Description
Vintage Rolex collectors know that the reference 6241 Daytona is a rare watch. This watch has an original “Paul Newman” dial, also known as an “Exotic” dial (which is how Rolex itself referred to it when it was a seldom ordered option on the Daytonas of that period). This particular Paul Newman dial has three colors (black, white and red) and is in perfect condition and, of course, guaranteed authentic and original.
Original case is stainless steel with dimensions of 37mm diameter by 13.4mm thick. Crystal is acrylic. Pump style chronograph pushers and screw down crown are all original and working correctly. Original bezel with sharp edges and insert with ‘50’ to ‘200’ Units per Hour scale. Case is in excellent condition.
Serial number is 1767XXX which dates production to 1967.
Original dial is white three color “Paul Newman” version with contrasting sub dials and outer black and red minutes scale. Dial is in mint plus condition. Hands are also original to this watch and are mint. This dial is 100% untouched and in perfect condition.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 722-1 with seventeen jewels and adjusted to three positions. Movement features column wheel construction and is very clean and working as it should. Inside case back is stamped ‘6241’.
Bracelet is a folded Rolex Oyster reference 7835 with 12 links and end links are stamped 271.
