Description
You know what? Each and every all original vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is a treasure unto itself. We literally never get tired of buying them, owning them and selling them. The Rolex Daytona is the most iconic chronograph ever, and for very good reason. This reference 6239 is from 1966 and is 100% original.
Original stainless steel case measures 37mm diameter by 13.5mm thick. Crystal is acrylic. The screw down crown operates smoothly and correctly and the round pump chronograph pushers operate crisply. Original bezel is mostly clean except for around the crown area, where is has some marks. Units per Hour scale ranges from ‘60’ to ‘300’.
Original silver dial is untouched and in excellent to mint condition. The applied hour markers give the dial a nice depth, which is reinforced by the sunken subdials which have concentric guilloche. The black subdials contrast against the silver dial, and have their original white hands – the white color for legibility. All of the hands are original and in mint condition. The dial has no spotting and is extremely clean.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 722 with 17 jewels, adjusted in 3 positions and features column wheel construction. The movement is clean and running well.
Inside caseback is stamped ‘6239’. Serial number 1519XXX dates production to 1966.
Bracelet is Rolex folded Oyster reference 7835 with ’357’ endlinks and has 11 links. The bracelet has some stretch but is in good condition and is quite clean.
