Description
Vacheron Constantin knows how to assert its watchmaking skills, and it does so by producing watches like this 18k white gold Squelette. This is an automatic winding watch but in a very thin case – a sure giveaway of an elite manufacture.
The case is solid 18k white gold and measures 36mm diameter by 6mm thin. The distinctive Vacheron Constantin Malte style lugs are stepped. The case is mirror polished finished. The front and display back crystals are sapphire.
Naturally, the watch does not have a proper dial since it’s a skeletonized movement. The hands are blued for legibility against the rhodium plated movement.
The high level of skeletonization is what gives this watch away as being the work of a master. First of all, the movement bears the Geneva Seal, which is the first time I have seen a skeletonized movement so honored. All of the skeletonization is done by hand, and the assembly, finishing and decoration are done in house by Vacheron’s watchmakers. The caliber has 36 jewels and a hand decorated rotor with 21k gold segment.
Strap is black Vacheron hand sewn crocodile with 18k white gold Maltese Cross style Vacheron buckle.
