Description
Here is a super clean and 100% original vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Big Red” reference 6263 with Rolex Service papers. This watch really “pops” visually. It’s one of the nicest 6263s we’ve seen in a while and it’s presented for the taking…
Original stainless steel case measures 38mm diameter by 13.7mm thick. Crystal is acrylic. Original bezel is clean with sharp edges. Original bezel insert has surface scratches but nothing deep. Original screw down crown and screw down chronograph pushers all working perfectly. This case is very clean with the exception of the case back which has some marking and light scratches from the bracelet resting against it. It was probably polished in 1991 by Rolex during the watch’s factory service, but it is otherwise never polished and mint to mint+.
Serial number 6705XXX dates production to 1981.
Original untouched black dial is particularly nice looking. Applied hour markers and hands still look new. The luminous dots adjacent to the hour markers, which so often have issues, are all in perfect original condition. The sunken chronograph subdials have concentric guilloche. The word “Daytona” is in red, large font which and is what collectors call a “Big Red” dial.
Movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and is adjusted in 3 positions. Movement is immaculately clean and running great. This chronograph caliber features column wheel construction.
Bracelet is Rolex Oyster 78350 with ‘571’ end links and is in mint condition with zero stretch. Bracelet has 12 links.
