Description
For a vintage Datejust from 1972, this watch is in fantastic condition… easily mint+. It’s no wonder the Datejust is so popular, looking at this watch, with its stainless steel case and beautiful 18k white gold fluted bezel, and highly complimentary Jubilee bracelet. It’s just perfect – perfectly suitable for all wardrobes (especially with the silver dial), perfectly balanced between discreet and flashy, and priced to perfection for a watch that will last several generations looking great and keeping Chronometer grade time.
When buying a vintage watch, it’s always condition, condition, condition and this watch is in mint+ all original condition. The stainless steel case has its original fat and equal thickness lugs, its polished steel sides and brushed top surfaces of the lugs, original 18k white gold bezel in mint+ condition, original signed screw down crown (working perfectly) and perfect acrylic crystal. Diameter is 35mm and thickness is 12.4mm.
The silver linen dial on this watch is also in mint+ condition, with applied white gold hour markers with black enamel on top and original white gold hands and date window at 3 o’clock. This is also a pie-pan dial, where the edges slant slightly down and away from the main surface. Adjacenet to each hour marker is a luminous dot, all of which are in perfect intact condition.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels and adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions. In my opinion, the Rolex Caliber 15XX movements are the best serially manufactured automatic calibers from any manufacturer, ever. Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Bracelet is Rolex Jubilee in stainless steel and will fit up to a 7.75 inch wrist.
