Wow! This watch is sweet. It’s like new after all these years. This Datejust dates to 1969, yet to look at it, you would be forgiven if you thought it was a new watch.
Of course, Rolex collectors will immediately recognize the pie-pan dial and early Datejust style hands, which give it away as a vintage watch.
Original 18k gold case measures 36mm diameter by 12.3mm thick. Original fluted bezel is extremely crisp and clean. Screw down 18k crown works smoothly. Acrylic crystal with cyclops date magnifier for the date display. Case is in mint+ condition.
Original silver “pie-pan” dial with original diamond hour markers and original early style sword hands. There are eight diamond hour markers along with two baguette cut diamond markers. Dial and hands are in perfect condition.
Original movement is the Rolex Caliber 1570 with automatic winding and date. The Caliber 1570 is the most accurate large series production automatic movement, with many movements still keeping time to within one or two seconds per day after 30 years. Movement is pristine and running great.
I never thought I would say this, but the bracelet on this watch might even eclipse the watch it’s so nice. It’s an 18k gold Rolex Jubilee with effectively zero stretch and is in mint+ condition.
