Description
The Ulysse Nardin Trilogy Set was a really big deal when it debuted in the late 1990s. Ludwig Oechslin is the designer of the set, and he is one of the living legends of our era, having collaborated with Ulysse Nardin for over a decade now. His ideas and designs have catapulted Ulysse Narin to the highest realm of horology, and the Trilogy set is what launched the firm’s ascension into the heavens.
The astrolabe is an ancient computer for astronomy, usually made from brass. It’s one of man’s earliest and most useful examples of real technology. The first true astrolabes date as far back as AD400s. It was refined and used throughout the Islamic world and made its European debut from then Islamic controlled Spain in the 1100s. Flash forward to the 1990s and Ulysse Nardin made a wristwatch astrolabe.
This incredible wristwatch displays the position of the sun, moon and stars as seen from Earth, along with sunrise and sunset, dawn and dusk, moonphases, moon rise and moon set and eclipses of the sun and the moon. The watch also displays the month and day of the week.
Case is 18k rose gold with dimensions of 39mm diameter by 13.5mm thick. The automatic Ulysse Nardin movement is richly decorated. Power reserve is 42 hours. Watch has UN model number 996-77.
The rose gold Trilogy Set was limited to 20 sets. All watches have sapphire front and display back crystals. The set has its original 3-watch winding box and documents. All three watches received a comprehensive factory Ulysse Nardin service in April 2010 and are in perfect condition cosmetically and mechanically. We are offering the watches as a set only.
