This near mint vintage Rolex Submariner reference 16800 is a transitional model Submariner, which introduced the 1000 foot depth rating, Caliber 3035 movement with quick set date, sapphire crystal and dial with white gold rings around the hour markers.
Serial number 7321XXX dates production to 1981.
Original black matte dial on this watch is untouched and in mint+ condition as are the original hands. Note this is the earlier and much more collectable 16800 dial absent the rings around the hour markers. Date display at 3 o’clock.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 3035 with 27 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. This is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer movement. Quick set date (first time on a Submariner). Movement is running well.
Original stainless steel case is near mint. Sapphire crystal (first time on a Submariner). Screw down Triplock crown. Original bezel turns as it should. The original bezel insert is clean. Case measures 40mm diameter by 12.7mm thick.
