This pre-Daytona chronograph is the cleanest vintage chrono we have seen in ages. There is something special with these pre-Daytonas with their smooth bezels; it’s a whole different look from the Daytona. This watch is from 1964 and is a bonafide treasure and highly collectable.
Original stainless steel case is in perfect condition. Measurements are 35mm diameter by 13.8mm thick. Screw down crown and pump style chronograph pushers all function perfectly. The chronograph functions reset crisply and perfectly to their zero positions. Case back is engraved “JHB PARIS 1966”.
Serial number is 1104XXX. Inside case back is engraved ‘6238’.
Original silver dial is untouched and mint+. Tri-compax arrangement of the subdials, which provide constant seconds, chronograph 30 minute totalizer and 12 hour totalizer. Subdials are sunken and have concentric guilloche. Applied hour markers with adjacent luminous dots. Original hands in perfect condition.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 72B with 17 jewels. Movement received a service in 2009 and is in perfect condition cosmetically and mechanically.
Watch will be delivered on a new, high quality leather strap with vintage steel Rolex buckle.
