Description
Here is a complicated Patek Philippe wristwatch with a twist. The famed Patek Caliber CH 27-70Q is a perpetual calendar chronograph. The twist is the cushion style case, also known as “TV screen” case. As serious collectors have come to appreciate, Patek does nothing unless they can attain perfection, and this is evident in the size, proportions and execution of this 18k white gold case. The reference 5020 was discontinued in 1999 after a very brief and limited production, which is a shame. The white gold 5020 is particularly rare and collectable, as only 4 pieces are known to exist.
The 18k white gold case, once again, is cushion shaped and is 36mm square by 13.5mm thick. Sapphire crystals front and back. Round chronograph pushers. The case slants downward from the crystal, giving the watch sleek lines along with the ability to slide easily under shirt cuffs. Finish is polished throughout.
Dial is silvered, approaching white in color, with applied Breguet style white gold arabic numerals and Breguet (or “pomme”) hands. Subdial at 3 o'clock displays chronograph minutes and leap year; subdial at 6 o'clock displays date and moonphase; subdial at 9 o'clock displays constant seconds and 24 hour time. Apertures below 12 o'clock display day and month.
Movement is the Patek Philippe Caliber 27-70Q with the Geneva Seal stamped on its balance bridge. Technical details: 24 jewels, 353 individual parts; 60 hour maximum power reserve, Gyromax balance beating at 18,000 beats per hour.
Strap is the brown Patek Philippe crocodile. Buckle is 18k white gold Patek tang.
Watch is in mint condition.
