Description
Condition of this watch is brand new and unworn, despite it being from the 1970s. The original untouched dark blue dial features the Iraqi crest used from 1965-1991. The movement in this watch, the exceptionally nice Caliber 28-255, is rarely seen.
Original 18k white gold case measures 35.5mm in diameter by 7mm thick. Crystal is slightly domed acrylic. Case finish is brushed throughout and the edges are sharp. This watch is in new, never polished condition.
Original blue dial has the Iraqi crest that was in use from 1965 through 1991. The hour markers are very unusual: they are indented into the dial and then covered with white gold. Hands are white gold baton style.
Original ultra-thin movement in this watch is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 28-255 with 36 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions, temperature and isochronism. Movement is stamped with the Geneva Seal. This movement also features a free-sprung balance and a gold section attached to the winding rotor for increased winding efficiency. The movement is in perfect, pristine condition.
Note that Patek Philippe has made use of this movement only sparingly, most notably in the first series Nautilus models.
Strap is vintage black Patek crocodile with 18k white gold Patek tang buckle.
