Description
How rare is a 1950’s Vacheron Constantin watch with original box and papers? I’ll answer: extremely rare. This classic 18k gold Vacheron was no doubt a prized possession of its original owner, because he saved the box and papers and kept the watch in great condition.
Original 18k case is in mint condition with double stepped sides (unusual!), acrylic crystal, original winding crown and crisp lugs which turn downward (with crisp gold hallmarks). Case back has one small ding, but the case is otherwise mint and I believe never polished. Dimensions are 33mm diameter by 8mm thick.
Original untouched mint silver dial with applied golden Maltese Cross and applied golden baton markers. Subsidiary seconds dial. All three hands are original and mint.
Original manual winding Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1001 with 18 jewels; adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions; and stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Strap is original black alligator with 18k gold Vacheron Constantin tang buckle.
Watch is accompanied by its original box, original “Certificat d’Origine et de Garantie” and second Certificate from Vacheron.
