Description
This vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava has a couple of very rare features and a lot more personality than most watches of its era. Specifically, the solid 18k rose gold case has half-hooded lugs and the dial has applied triple-dot hour markers in descending height at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. This is also an oversized watch for its period at 41.6mm long. Production of the 1584 commenced in 1944 and this watch is from circa 1946.
Original solid 18k gold case is 34mm diameter by 10.3mm thick. High sitting acrylic crystal and original rose gold crown. The half-hooded lugs are very interesting and unusual. Case shows insignificant signs of wear and is in mint condition.
Original silver dial with applied rose gold ‘12’, applied hour markers and the aforementioned and highly unusual applied triple dot hour markers at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. The dots decrease in height from the outer to innermost dot! Dial also has subsidiary seconds along with all original rose gold baton hands.
Original Patek Philippe manual winding Caliber 12’’’-120 with 18 jewels, adjusted for heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions and with self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Movement is clean and running well.
Watch is in mint condition and is on a mint brown Patek Philippe crocodile strap with buckle. |
