Description
The 1970s were a period of exploration and the watchmakers at Patek Philippe definitely joined the party. Take this unusual model 3569 with extremely balanced and symmetrical case. Look at the pictures of the watch below and see if you can find what is so unusual about this watch.
Original solid 18k white gold case features stepped bezel and is close to new old stock condition. The top surface of the bezel and lugs are polished while the side surfaces are brush finished. All of this watch’s original factory sharp edges are still razor sharp. Crystal is domed hardened mineral glass. Case dimensions are 35mm diameter by 7.7mm thick. Case back has a transparent, although with patina now, sticker attached. I believe this sticker is applied by the factory and never removed.
Original and beautiful blue dial with applied white gold hour markers and white gold hands. Dial is in perfect condition apart from a squiggle line touching the 8 o’clock marker. Dial is finished with a radial sunburst brush finish. The blue color is highly pleasing.
Original Patek Philippe Caliber 350 which is automatic winding with 28 jewels; adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions; and stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Strap is new black Patek Philippe crocodile.
Okay, have you figured out why this case is so balanced looking and imaginative? It’s because there is no crown on the side. Instead, Patek put a very flat crown on the case back. Accordingly, these rare watches are called “back winders” (even though the movement is automatic winding). This is a very cool and unusual vintage Patek Philippe wristwatch.
