The Patek Philippe reference 530 chronograph is as elusive as it is legendary. Fewer than 20 examples exist in yellow gold. In fact, collectors have been clamoring for 530s so loudly that Patek Philippe has introduced the new reference 5170 chronograph which obviously takes its styling cues directly from the 530.
Case is solid 18k yellow gold with square chronograph pushers and perfectly proportioned crown. Crystal is acrylic. In the mid 1950s, when this watch was manufactured, this was a very large watch at 37mm diameter by 12mm thick.
Dial is white with applied golden arabic numerals and square pyramid hour markers. Feuille hands in gold, subsidiary seconds dial, 30 minute chronograph totalizer subdial and tachometer scale are also present on the dial.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 13-130 with 23 jewels, Breguet balance spring, micrometer regulator and with 8 adjustments. This is a column wheel chronograph construction. Movement is in perfect condition.
I honestly canít think of a more perfect chronograph than the 530. This example is in perfect condition and is 100% original.
