Description
I remember this watch being discussed in a Walt Odets article about watch and movement finishing on Timezone back in the day. At the time this was Blancpain's only C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. The Caliber 64-1 beating inside this simple but very elegant watch is important, as it was the last of the pre-ETA Peseux ebauches which Blancpain modified and decorated into a masterpiece of a caliber.
Case is the Leman case with its understated but great looking three part construction: top bezel, mid-case and rear bezel. Signed crown and sapphire front and display back crystals. Case measures 36mm diameter by 6.7mm thick.
Dial is white with mirror polished stylized applied arabic numerals, luminous dots at each hour position. Subsidiary seconds dial. Hands are Blancpain's great looking sword hands with inlaid luminous. CHRONOMETER is written at the bottom of the dial above SWISS MADE.
Movement is the manual winding Caliber 64-1 with 17 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour and adjusted in 5 positions. It is significant that the Caliber 64-1 is the only caliber that Blancpain sent off for C.O.S.C. Chronometer certification, showing that they took particular pride in this movement.
Blancpain steel bracelet which will fit a 6 inch wrist in mint condition.
