Description
The Rolex Daytona is the most iconic sports watch ever. It is instantly recognizable, highly coveted, extremely liquid and best of all: extremely comfortable to wear. It is no coincidence that the Daytona is so popular, it is a homerun in every regard.
Now raise the ante several levels higher: this is a Bamford Watch Department custom black out Daytona. Bamford Watch Department in London is the preeminent company making custom black PVD treated watches. They are the Alpha and the Omega – by far the best at what they do in the entire world. This is a fresh watch from the Bamford Boys and indeed a brand new Rolex Daytona sold new in October 2012. The case is black PVD treated stainless steel with dimensions of 40mm diameter by 12.8mm thick. Crystal is sapphire. Crown and chronograph pushers screw down. Water resistant to 100 meters. Bracelet is the full length Oyster with 12 links. Bezel is engraved with the Units per Hour scale from ‘60’ to ‘400’. The entire case and bracelet, right down to the screws, are black PVD with industrial grade application.
Movement is the outstanding Rolex automatic winding Caliber 4130. Rolex designed and built this caliber as the best chronograph movement that could be manufactured. They concentrated on technical excellence (long lubrication life, long service intervals and minimizing friction), timekeeping excellence (C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer) and serviceability (the watchmakers can service and/or repair the caliber easily).
The dial is the original and unmodified Rolex black with applied hour markers with inlaid luminous and luminous hands. There are 30 minute and 12 hour chronograph totalizer subdials along with a running seconds subdial.
