Description
Here is probably the best watch ever, in its most popular vintage configuration: the model 6263. This is an early watch from within the 6263’s first year of production. Original steel case in mint condition and sweet all-original and mint black Sigma dial. I’ve been in the watch business for a long time, and I can report that these vintage Daytonas in 100% original condition are truly becoming rare as we approach 2013. Every year, we see fewer and fewer for sale at watch shows and the people calling us to sell them are getting fewer and further between.
Original stainless steel case measures 37mm diameter by 13mm thick. Domed original plastic crystal. Original black bezel. Original screw down crown and screw down chronograph pushers. Case lugs are very thick and the bezel is very sharp, leading me to conclude that this case has perhaps never been polished. Case back is personalized with shallow engraving. Serial number 3559XXX dates production to 1971-72.
Original untouched black Sigma dial with applied hour markers and Rolex coronet, contrasting silver subdials and original hands.
Original Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and column wheel construction. Movement is pristine and running.
Rolex riveted Oyster bracelet with negligible stretch.
