Description
The model 1802 Day Date with its smooth bezel is a true rarity. In rose gold, it is hard to believe you are holding it in your hands (or, better yet, strapped to your wrist!). For every 1,000+ model 1803 Day Dates with their fluted bezels, you will see one 1802. For every 500 1802s (and there are probably 1000 or so remaining in the world, most retired permanently by collectors and as heirlooms), you will find only one in rose gold.
Original solid 18k rose gold case with smooth bezel, plastic crystal and original screw down crown operating perfectly. Case is 36mm diameter by 12.2mm thick. Serial number 885XXX dates this watch to 1962.
Original untouched brown tropical pie-pan dial (most likely faded from original black) with applied wide door stop hour markers in rose gold along with rose gold hands. The brown has thousands of gold specks in it, which is probably part of how and why the color is changing to brown. It looks like the sky with all the stars on a clear night. Full day on display beneath 12 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock. The brown dial and rose gold case complement each other perfectly and this is a gorgeous wristwatch!
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1555 with 26 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is clean and running and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Strap is new brown leather with Rolex buckle.
