Description
Known by collectors as “La Bomba”, the Submersible PAM87’s 1000m case is just a massive, heavy, work of industrial and utilitarian art. Made to serve the purpose of deep/saturation diving, this thing is a true professional tool watch. In fact, the case on this watch is significantly larger than the case on the 300 meter Submersible, which in its turn, is larger than the standard Luminor watch case. This is the bulkiest 44mm watch case in Panerai history.
Case is brushed stainless steel with dimensions of 44mm diameter by 18mm thick. The crystal itself is 5mm thick. The crown locking mechanism is significantly larger than on other Luminor cases. This 1000 meter water resistant case is called La Bamba by collectors because it is, simply, huge. Purpose built with a helium escape valve and a uni-directional diver’s timing bezel, this Submersible is approximately 25% bigger than the next largest Submersible.
Dial is a pleasing blue with heavily luminous hour markers and hands. Subsidiary seconds dial and date at 3 o’clock.
Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer automatic winding Panerai caliber. Movement is running fine.
Watch is on original, new condition heavy duty dive strap with original Panerai buckle.
