Description
Unloved when these were current production watches, Oyster Quartz Day Dates are now quite collectable. After all, they have a unique case shape and integral bracelet that make Oyster Quartz models distinct from all other Rolex watches.
These watches in 18k white gold are very unusual. Rolex cut these cases out of a single large chunk of solid gold, then took innumerable steps to arrive at the finished uniquely massive and beautiful Oyster Quartz case. Measurements are 42mm long by 36mm wide by 12.7mm thick. Crystal is sapphire. The solid white gold crown screws down. Fluted 18k white gold bezel. Solid case back. Case is water resistant to 100 meters. Case is in mint condition.
Original untouched silver dial with window for full day display and date display at 3 o’clock. Applied white gold hour markers with adjacent original luminous dots and original white gold baton hands. There is a minutes/seconds chapter around the edge of the dial with roman numerals at the 5 minute positions. Dial is in fair condition.
Rolex being Rolex could only make the best of breed movements for their watches, and their quartz Caliber is no exception. A jeweled quartz movement is almost unheard of, but Rolex uses 11 jewels in the movement. Further, this C.O.S.C. Chronometer movement is accurate to within a couple of seconds PER MONTH (whereas mechanical chronometers are accurate to a few seconds per day). This movement is also anti-magnetic. Rolex monitors each movement for 8 days to ensure accuracy and function. Movement is clean and running.
Bracelet is integral to the case on an Oyster Quartz and has an invisible clasp.
This great looking and rare watch will not last…!
