Description
The model 1803 vintage Day Date President is probably our favorite watch of all. The reason is because Rolex used the most imaginative and beautiful dials in their history in these 1803s. The Rolex Day Date is arguably as iconic as the Daytona, and for every 1,000 Day Dates with a silver or champagne dial Rolex produced a watch with a dial like this. The Vignette dial is Rolex’s most creative and I sincerely believe most beautiful dial ever. Midnight blue in the center darkening gradually toward the dial’s edge and with applied diamond hour markers. Truly beautiful.
Original case is solid 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 35mm diameter by 12.3mm thick. The crystal is plastic and has the Cyclops magnifier over the date window. The fluted bezel is very nice and has its full metal (not eroded from being polished). The lugs are thick and uniform. The original screw down crown operates smoothly. The case is mint to mint plus.
Original blue vignette pie-pan dial with 8 regular diamond markers and 2 baguette diamond markers. Dial is in near-mint condition. The full day of the week is displayed at 12 o’clock and the date is displayed at 3 o’clock. Original hands.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1556 with 26 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is clean and is running. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Strap is new generic black leather with Rolex buckle.
