Description
This vintage Calatrava has it all. Literally. It is rare indeed to find a vintage Calatrava with original Patek box and Certificate – but this watch also comes with the original retail receipt, showing a purchase date of December 27, 1967 in Chronometrie BEYER in Zurich Switzerland.
Case is mint solid 18k gold with screw back and dimensions of 34mm diameter by 9.7mm thick. Crown is signed with Calatrava Cross. Generously domed plastic crystal gives this watch a real vintage look. The significance of the screw down case back is that this was Patek’s first concerted (and successful) effort to provide a watch that was truly water, humidity and particle resistant.
Original untouched co-signed BEYER silver dial with radial sunburst brush finish and applied golden baton markers and hands. Subsidiary seconds dial. Date window at 3 o’clock is framed in gold. The very edge of the dial has a subtle gold embossed minutes scale.
Automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 27-460M, which is considered by many collectors to be Patek’s best automatic movement ever. Movement features 37 jewels, massive 18k gold decorated winding rotor, is adjusted in 5 positions and to heat, cold and isochronism, and double stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Watch is in mint condition and is accompanied by original Patek box, Certificate and original purchase receipt.
