Description
I remember when I was first getting into watches, this model was a darling of the savvy collectors. This was during the intensely productive phase of Ludwig Oechslin at Ulysse Nardin. The firm made a lot more complicated watches than this one during that period, but none with more practicality.
This is a watch for travelers. Local time is kept with the traditional watch hands while the home time is indicated in 24 hour format in the window at 9 o’clock. The buttons on the left case side advance the local hour hand forward (top button) and backwards (bottom button) in one hour increments. There is a oversized dual-window date display at 2 o’clock.
Large stainless steel case measures 40mm diameter by 12mm thick with domed sapphire crystal and stepped lugs. Screw down crown with signed blue cabochon. Local time buttons on 9 o’clock case side. Case is water resistant to 100 meters.
Silver dial with guilloche, applied blued hour markers and roman numerals with adjacent luminous dots and blued hands with luminous.
Movement is the automatic winding caliber UN 22 which is built from an ETA 2892 ebauche with 23 jewels and beating at 28,800 beats per hour.
Watch is on hand-sewn blue Ulysse Nardin crocodile with original steel buckle. Watch has original box.
